What is an I.E.P.?
An I.E.P. is an Individualized Education Plan.
According to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, in 1975 Congress passed the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This law states that children with disabilities must receive a free appropriate public education (F.A.P.E.) in the least restrictive environment (L.R.E.). According to IDEA, an I.E.P. is a document written for each child with a disability and states how the disability affects the students educational progress, A set of measurable goals for the academic and functional progress of the student.
